    Stephen Copplin

    Executive Chairman The Mindworx Group/ Principal Mindworx Acumen

    Stephen is the Executive Chairman of the Mindworx Group, a human capital solutions organisation and a principal in Mindworx Acumen, an experienced corporate advisory group, he specialises in strategic planning and implementation, succession planning and corporate restructuring for growth. He has wide ranging experience in mergers, acquisitions and business reconstruction. He holds directorships with various companies

    Previously Stephen was CEO of the State Government and QUT sponsored Creative Industries Precinct at Kelvin Grove.

    The Creative Industries Precinct, officially opened in May 2004 is charged with the task of bringing creative companies, university and entrepreneurs together to grow this economic sector and expand the creative opportunities in Queensland .

    He is a director of Brisbane Community Television broadcaster Briz 31

    Prior to taking this role Stephen was CEO of the State Government sponsored i.lab Incubator at Toowong. i.lab which was opened in September 2000 to assist start up companies in the technology sector.

    Stephen is an Adjunct Professor at The University of Queensland, jointly in The Schools of Business and the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering.

    As well as his role with creative industries precinct he holds several non-executive Chair and directors roles with the boards of companies involved in the media, technology, insurance and human resource industries.

    Stephen is a CPA by profession, with an extensive background in the media and technology sectors. He has been involved in many start ups and later stage organisations in both an angel investor and advisory capacity.


    Alistair Barros

    SAP Research

    Alistair Barros is research leader at SAP Research with interests in business process management, service sciences and software architectures. He has a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Queensland and 21 years experience, working at CITEC and the Distributed Systems Technology Centre, before joining SAP in 2004. Alistair's research has contributed to a number of international standards (including BPMN and WS-BPEL), references (patterns in the BPM field), product transfers, patents and commercial consultancies including Boeing, Queensland Government and Australian Defence. He has also contributed to the acquisition of Australian Research Council projects, the Australian Cooperative Research Centre on Smart Services and European Union projects including SUPER. At SAP Research, he leads the Internet of Services research field.

    David Israel

    David is the Manager of Innovation and Commercial Development for The University of Queensland Faculty of Arts and the School of IT and Electrical Engineering.

    In this role, David is responsible for identifying, evaluating, protecting and managing the Faculty's intellectual capital to realise new business opportunities. This involves raising the awareness and enhancing the skills of research staff as well as increasing funding opportunities for new areas of strategic research. In addition, David develops collaborative relationships with industry and the private sector.
